‘Spending billions on HS2 is wasteful’ IN the light of the continuing bad weather, does anybody agree that spending billions on a project like HS2 is wasteful when part of the country is cut off from the rest of us by a useful railway falling into the sea?

Surely Parliament must realise that priority must be given to getting ordinary travellers about, rather than wasting such a large amount of money on a toy that many of us will never use, and don’t want.

If this mad project goes on, I hope they keep the line away from wet leaves and flood plains, but politicians never learn what we want until too late.
