HOSPITAL bosses have paid tribute to a popular Southampton biker who helped deliver thousands of presents to generations of sick Hampshire children.
Carol “Bubbles” Carr, pictured, spearheaded huge motorbike convoys that delivered presents and chocolates to generations of children.
As reported yesterday, Ms Carr, who organised the annual Southampton Toy Run and Easter Egg Runs, was killed when her Yamaha 900 bike was in collision with a grey Vauxhall Insignia at the Moorhill Road and Southern Road junction in West End on Tuesday.
Ms Carr had been organising both toy runs since the early 1980s, where convoys of bikers load up their vehicles with toys to take to Southampton General Hospital A spokeswoman for the play team at Southampton Children’s Hospital, said: “Everyone was very saddened to hear the news about Carol.
“These generous deliveries of toys and Easter eggs have made an enormous difference to our young patients over the years and we remain exceedingly grateful to everyone involved.”
Police investigating the crash are appealing for witnesses. Contact Sgt Rob Heard on 101.
