POLICE investigating a smash and grab robbery have released an e-fit of a suspect.
He is believed to be one of two raiders who made off with gold and cash from the Money Shop in Shirley, Southampton at dusk by smashing in its windows and bars with a large metal cylinder.
Carrying a yellow bag full of cash and gold, they fled in a white BMW 120 coupe car.
The getaway car was found abandoned in Somerset Terrace in Freemantle, near Millbrook train station.
Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen people acting suspiciously either on the day or before the incident.
Detective Constable Mike Boshier said: “We’re also interested in hearing from anyone who has sold, given away or had stolen a large metal cylinder-type object which is believed to be some kind of industrial filter.
“This is extremely heavy and quite a distinctive item. It was used to force open the window and bars at the shop.”
Contact Det Con Boshier at Shirley CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
