DEVELOPERS say they are ready to submit a formal planning application for 275 homes and a sports complex on the outskirts of Romsey.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes will put in their planning application for the development at Ganger Farm next month .

The plans would deliver a “new community sports hub” comprising eight sports pitches, a pavilion providing changing facilities on land currently a pick-your-own facility.

Community allotments are also included in the proposals The developers say 20 per cent of the new homes would be affordable.

The submission follows a recent second round of public consultation which saw more than 200 people visiting a two-day exhibition of the plans.

Julian Jones, development director for Barratt and David Wilson Homes, said: “We were pleased that so many people were able to come along to our exhibitions for Ganger Farm. This time, we were able to share more detailed information, such as the number of houses proposed and to answer questions about our drainage strategy for the site. It was important for us to be able to respond to these key issues.

“Our development would help to meet an identifiable need for sports pitches in Romsey and, together with the allotments that would be available for use by residents of the wider area, would mean that a real community asset is created on Ganger Farm.”

Romsey Rugby Club and Hockey Club have both given support to the plan and saythey would be keen to move to Ganger Farm.
