COUNCIL tax bills in the New Forest are set to rise by an average of £6 from April.

New Forest District Council, Hampshire County Council and Hampshire Fire Authority are all freezing their share of council tax demands.

But the cost of policing the county is going up – and parish councils are also seeking more cash.

It means the average Band D council tax bill in the Forest will rise from £1,471 to £1,477.

The figure is almost certain to be agreed at the district council meeting tomorrow.

So we are bing told we will have over 500 less Police Officers and yet Simon Hayes still wants more money from us? No thanks. Regular patrols of any description by fully warranted Police Officers is sadly a thing of the past in the New Forest. To be being paying more money for even less of a service is an insult.

........... it's the new face of capitalism FR. Raising prices (albeit, marginally) whilst downsizing...streaml
ining...initiating cut-backs... introducing efficiency measures, call it what you like. The net result to the taxpayer/customer = being charged more for less product or service.
It's exactly the same message that the Energy & Water Companies are forcing down the throats of their customers...expect higher bills for less energy/water consumption.... now it's Policing ..... best get used to this contrivance.

£6 may not be much, but it is the principal of the rise that is the biggest concern. Why should you and I pay more to receive less from both Hampshire Police and NFDC?

The councils are allowed to increase the rate but only by a small amount and to go beyond that limit they need to hold a referendum of their constituents. No corruption to see here, please move along.

Yep it's yer capiterlists with their frock coats and top hats, stepping on the faces of the poor, making the weather bad, making our dim-witted youngsters play drinking games and eat drain cleaner called meow or somesuch, till they all die. Get a grip! This is the Public Sector we're talking about and it has no correlation with the rules of supply and demand.
In passing let us have dustbins back in the Forest and not the black and transparent dog poo sacks we're currently lumbered with.

No one from the Council has ever tried to flog me anything for which I'm thankful. They just take my cash for which I'm not thankful. Do you get Councillors at your door with trays of sunglasses?

You have a choice whether you shop at Lidl or Waitrose. With the State you may just have noticed there is no choice. The State pockets your money and then hands it out to any number of pseudo- companies and pseudo- charities. If you can't figure the difference and want to think it's about a boo word made up by the pseudo-sociologist Marx in the 19th century-"capitalism" then carry on. I expect your friends have long since stopped trying to enlighten you and I'm sure I'll not succeed where they failed.
