Investigations are continuing today into a crash that killed two people in Hampshire last night.
The man and a woman, believed to be pensioners, were travelling south on the A34 when their car careered off the road.
The accident happened at Three Maids Hill, north of Winchester, just after 6.30pm, ending up on its roof.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to Southampton General Hospital, but died later.
The road was closed for hours causing major delys for drivers heading south.
It was not reopened until just after midnight as officers were carrying out investigations to establish what caused the car to come off the carriageway.
It is not believed that any other vehicle was involved.
Police are still trying to identify the victims and trace next of kin.
