Emergency services have been called to the scene of a crash on the A34.

Firefighters from Winchester Fire Station were called shortly before 9am this morning to a multi-vehicle crash half a mile north of Winnall, past junction nine.

Ambulance crews are treating one patient for back injuries and say that person is likely to be taken to hospital. Two others were treated at the scene and will not require hospital treatment.

The accident is causing 45 minute delays and tailbacks as far as Bullington Cross.

It follows a crash on the A34 northbound near Littleton last night in which two pensioners died after their car overturned.

A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said one lane of the A34 has been closed but is expected to reopen shortly.
