A 17-year-old boy has been charged with rape in Hampshire.

The boy from Andover – who cannot be named for legal reasons – has been charged with rape and is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court today.

The charge follows an incident which is alleged to have happened at a park near to Admiral’s Way in Andover between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Sunday.

Officers are continuing to try to trace a driver who may be able to assist this investigation.

A small silver car was seen being driven along London Road, away from the roundabout known locally as the ‘Merityre Roundabout’ at around 7.30pm.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who has a car matching the description and who would have been in the area at the time on Sunday night.

The driver, or anyone who was in the park on Sunday evening and saw anything which may assist this investigation, is urged to contact Andover CID on 101.
