EASTLEIGH council chiefs have approved spending more than £85,000 on printing resources.
Eastleigh Borough Council’s Cabinet members approved the step, which is to replace the current stock of photocopiers and printers at the civic offices in Leigh Road.
A council report says a review was done of the facilities, both in the print room and in the civic offices building, due to the age of the machines, which are all more than six years old, the upcoming move to Eastleigh House and the need to reduce printing costs.
A council report compared the cost of purchasing or leasing printers over a five-year period.
It concluded that although the estimated savings were “conservative”, income from external printing could be increased through charging outside organisations such as parish councils to use the facilities.
