HUNDREDS of students from a Southampton university showed that good deeds can go a long way.
Nearly 190 students at Solent University spent a total of 70 hours doing various tasks to help others as part of National Good Deed Day.
More than 100 tasks were on offer to choose from, including two- minute deeds such as washing a housemate’s dirty mugs, picking up litter in Southampton or joining the Raise and Give Society.
Organising the event was Southampton Solent Union as part of Student Volunteering Week 2014.
Vice president of student engagement, Hannah Mullarky believes the event was a big success.
She said: “Good Deed Day went really well. We had 187 students agreeing to do one good deed each.
“I feel this was a really positive result and exceeded our expectations for the day.”
