Heroes who saved two young girls from drowning at a Hampshire beach will be recognised at an awards ceremony.

Hampshire Constabulary will honour five members of the public who saved the teenagers from drowning at Lepe Beach on July 26 last year.

The girls got into difficulties and beachgoers risked their lives to run into the sea and save them.

A 13-year-old girl was pulled unconscious from the water and was airlifted to hospital with another of her friends.

The heroes will be honoured at the force’s western area award ceremony tonight at Hanger Farm Arts Centre in Totton.
