A CONVOY of hundreds of bikers brought roads to a standstill today as they said farewell to popular motorcyclist Carol “Bubbles” Carr.

Riders traveled from all over the country to pay tribute to the popular motorcyclist and charity fundraiser at her funeral at Southampton Crematorium.

The convoy gathered at the Bittern Pub in Thornhill Park Road early this morning to before her hearse slowly arrived at 11.15am.

The procession, estimated to include 300 bikes and scooters, wound its way through the city to the crematorium where a service was held.

Traffic ground to a standstill as the convoy - flanked by police and marshals - poignantly passed.

Miss Carr, 50, from Bitterne, died when her Yamaha 900 bike was in collision with a grey Vauxhall Insignia in Moorhill Road on Tuesday, February 18.

The nanny organised the Southampton Toy and Easter Egg Runs during the 1980s and 90s, delivering thousands of toys and chocolates to disabled children and youngsters in care.

Her wake is being held in the Bittern Pub afterwards with local businesses including Dewhurst Butchers, Gannaways, Iceland and Asda donating towards food.
