TWO cars have crashed at a notorious accident blackspot in Southampton this afternoon.

The crash happened at the junction of South East Road and Kathleen Road, Sholing. The cars involved were a Silver Ford Fusion and a blue Suzuki Baleno.

Three police cars were called to the scene where the road is partially blocked and one of the drivers had to be treated for minor injuries.

The crash which happened at 12.30pm, comes after council officers met with residents to discuss how to make the junction safer.

One of those campaigning to make the junction safer is David Poore, from South East Road, he saw the aftermath of the incident.

He said: “It is a clear day it is not dark and the road is not slippery, yet still accidents are happening here.”

“It looks like the driver has gone straight across the junction, where the lollypop lady sometimes stands. On another day he could have hit her.”
