PUPILS in Hampshire have raised enough cash to help build a school in a poverty stricken country.
Wildern School in Hedge End marked the Unicef day earlier this year by focusing on the UN convention that all children have the right to an education.
As a result, students launched a major fundraising drive which included a non-uniform day and a hugely successful cake sale.
In total, the school raised £1,225 for Unicef, which could be used to build a temporary school, meaning children caught up in emergency or disaster situations have a safe space to learn.
A school spokesman said: “Wildern is a Unicef accredited Rights Respecting School which means that the rights of our students are at the heart of everything that we do, and we are hugely proud that we can work alongside Unicef to help make a real difference to those who need it most.”
