IT was the moment Southampton cheerleaders took over Guildhall Square.
As part of their degree, Southampton Solent University students held a public event to celebrate the city’s culture – including a flashmob.
International Creative Heartbeat was a one-off event with food, a raffle, music and the Southampton Ravens Cheerleading Squad leading a spontaneous dance in the shape of a heart to get passers-by involved.
All the money raised will be donated to Southampton charity the Rose Road Association.
Events management student Daniella Ribeiro said: “We wanted to do something a bit different and open our event to the public.
Everyone assumes that because we’re students we just want to go clubbing but this is something nobody has ever done before.
“It was celebrating how diverse Southampton is and we wanted to bring cultures together as well as raise money for charity. The flashmob was something fun for everyone to join in with if they wanted or entertainment if they just wanted to watch.”
