HE has lost three of his loved ones to cancer, now he will be walking the length of the country in their memory.

Warren Stone will trek from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care.

The 45-year-old, from Chandler’s Ford, lost his mum Rita Stone to ovarian cancer last October, aged 75.

His dad John Stone had died from cancer in 1986, aged 56, and his mum’s partner Ron Tyrrell died of the disease in 2006, aged 65.

Warren hopes that his 811-mile walk will also raise awareness for the charity which provides support for those fighting the disease.

The Royal Mail delivery driver said: “It’s something I have wanted to do for a few years. I don’t do a lot of walking and I’m not that fit. The achievement will be finishing it but the goal is to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care.

“My mum did a lot for charity and she was my inspiration. It’s a disease that a lot of people are affected by. Mum has gone and so has my dad and Ron, but others are dealing with it.”

Warren will begin his challenge on March 22 and he is keen to hear from anyone who is able to volunteer by holding collection buckets.
