A MAN who molested a female jogger in a Hampshire park has had sentence adjourned for doctors to conduct a further psychiatric assessment on him.

The victim had been doing circuit training in Lakeside Country Park, Eastleigh, when Simon Gould approached and asked if he could sit next to her on a bench where she was exercising, despite others being unoccupied.

Prosecutor Gavin Sumpter told Southampton Crown Court that Gould got so close to her that she threatened to report him to the police. She then walked off but Gould came up behind her, grabbed her around the neck and touched her breasts.

She screamed and struggled with Gould before she could free herself and run to another man who was also walking in the park.

Gould was arrested the following day in Eastleigh town centre.

Gould, 45, of no fixed abode, was convicted of sexual assault, which he had denied. He told jurors she had invited him to join her and had encouraged him to caress her breasts.

Sentence was adjourned until May 30 while Gould will be transferred from prison to a secure psychiatric unit.
