A CHARITY is appealing for veterans of convoys that were one of the keys to Allied victory in the Second World War to tell their story.

The Legasee Educational Trust is looking to interview veterans to create a permanent exhibition that will show just how important the convoys were.

It wants the story of those onboard the ships to be brought to life and they are urging veterans in Hampshire to come forward.

With the majority of Second World War veterans now in their 90s, this may be one of the last chances that their stories can be told first hand.

The exhibition will be called Keeping Britain Afloat.

It is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and will provide Chatham’s Dockyard Trust with material for a permanent exhibition – and also create educational content for schools and universities.

The Legasee Educational Trust will be in Hampshire this month. If you have a story to share or know someone who does, contact Martin Bisiker on 020 7033 9773.
