THEY will help you give cash to Hampshire’s most needy.

Instead of booking luxury ocean excursions, Southampton cruise operator Carnival UK will be taking time out to take your Sport Relief cash donations.

They will be answering phone calls from people wishing to contribute to the cause on March 21 as Sport Relief takes over our screens with some television fundraising.

More than 90 staff have volunteered to receive calls for the charity effort, which will see funds put back into local charity causes.

But it is not all hard work for the staff.

There will be plenty of action away from the phones with loads of activities happening in the office.

The call-centre team will also be joining in with the fun and games by holding a “donate for cake” sale, dressing up in sporty ensembles, participating in a quiz, raffle and auction.

It certainly won’t be the average evening at work as they will also be playing computer games which emulate Team GB at the Winter Olympics by practising their curling skills.

In 2012 the Southampton branch took around 1,486 calls and more than £50,000 worth of pledges to raise cash to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Hampshire, the UK and the across the world a helping hand to turn their lives around.

As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, the charity event brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives.

Since 2002 they have raised more than £195m.

From 7pm BBC 1 will be broadcasting live from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park where some iconic faces are involved in fundraising. England football legend Gary Lineker, Lord Sebastian Coe, Ashes hero Freddy Flintoff, comedians John Bishop and David Walliams, along with many other celebrities and sports stars, will be playing their part.

Iconic British comedy Only Fools and Horses returns with a one-off episode that includes a cameo from football hero David Beckham and Paralympians do Strictly Come Dancing along with much much more.

You can also do your part for Sport Relief as there is still time to sign up to one of the runs and swims in the local area that make up the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games.
