SHE will represent Southampton’s older generation.
Today the Rev Erica Roberts takes up her new role as one of just a handful of chaplains for older people in the UK.
Bishops from across Hampshire will gather at Highfield Church, Southampton, from 11am for the 55-year-old’s licensing ceremony.
The Rev Roberts decided it would be a good idea to have a dedicated person representing older people and last year suggested the idea to the Bishop of Southampton Rt Rev Jonathan Frost.
Once she is licensed, the Rev Roberts will take on her new role while maintaining her post as curate at Highfield Church where she was ordained three years ago.
The mum-of-three will help to train people within churches, colleges and schools to how best help the elderly in their communities.
