Baby rescued after being trapped in car

Daily Echo: Badger Farm Sainsbury's in Winchester Badger Farm Sainsbury's in Winchester

A BABY was rescued after becoming trapped in a car last night.

The one-year-old boy locked himself into the vehicle at Badger Farm Sainsbury’s, Winchester, as his parents were loading the car.

One crew from Winchester Fire Station attended and managed to open the car minutes later using wedges and wire.

Watch manager Chris Roper said: “Apparently the keys had been left in the car and the parents had closed the door to stop the boy falling out. But it seems he stood on the keys and locked them out from the inside.”

Would have thought it more appropriate to call a breakdown service than fire and rescue, but hey, lets get it sorted free of charge by using much stretched emergency services.

What a complete waste of fire brigade resources. Why an earth was this child roaming free in the car? He should have been strapped into his car seat & one of the parents should have kept hold of the car keys. Considering both parents were, one could have dealt with the child whilst the other loaded the shopping into the car. Daft parenting. Hopefully they have learnt their lesson& if they make the same mistake again they should remember to call a breakdown service & not waste the time of our valuable emergency services

Yes I totally agree first thing I would have done strap the kid/kids in to there seats. they should be mad to pay for the call out of the fire service.
