HE IS more used to glittering on the catwalk, than taking to the stage.

It is still a month until Easter, but fashion expert Gok Wan has been revealed as the star in this year’s panto in Southampton.

He is set to take to The Mayflower stage as he stars in this year’s production – Cinderella.

Following his debut in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Birmingham Hippodrome last Christmas, the subject of Channel 4 documentary Gok Does Panto, the TV presenter and author will be offering helpful style tips to the Ugly Sisters and creating the most magical ball gown in panto-land!

As the Fairy Gokmother, he will be joined by returning favourite, comedian, TV presenter and musical theatre star Brian Conley, who impressed audiences as Robinson Crusoe in last year’s panto.

Brian will tour the UK in the Cameron Mackintosh musical Barnum and his own show The Real Life of Brian Conley before returning to The Mayflower Theatre to star as Buttons in December.

Gok Wan has waved his magic wand before in Southampton, drawing in huge crowds when he visited WestQuay Shopping Centre to film an episode of How to Look Good Naked.

Chief executive Michael Ockwell said: “I am thrilled that Brian Conley and Gok Wan are to star in our fantastic family pantomime this year.

“Brian is truly a great allround star, and for those who discovered him for the first time last year as Robinson Crusoe will be crying with laughter at his take on Buttons.

“Gok Wan makes his second panto appearance in a role that suits him down to the ground.

“I mean who else but Gok Wan is the master of transformations?”

Cinderella runs from Saturday, December 13 to Sunday, January 4, 2015. Tickets are on sale now from mayflower.org.uk or on 023 8071 1811.
