SHE has been given a second chance to be named the most beautiful woman in England.

Miss Hampshire 2014 Charlotte Giles, who actually lives in Middlesex, was set to be the county’s only representative at the Miss England beauty pageant in June.

But now Larissa Hirst, 23, is in with a chance of being at the finals after being crowned Miss Southampton, which gains her entry to the semi-finals of the Miss England competition on May 19.

Larissa competed against Charlotte for the Hampshire title and came second.

This caused controversy amongst some other competitors when it became know Charlotte wasn’t even from Hampshire but Twickenham.

Now the organisers have dedcided that Larissa was such a strong contender that she should be given the title Miss Southampton, qualifying her for a semi-final round, which could see her compete for the Miss En-gland title alongside Charlotte.

Competition organiser Paula Langley said Larissa’s crowning as Miss Southampton was nothing to do with the complaints over Charlotte’s victory.

As reported by the Daily Echo, Charlotte entered the competition despite living in Twickenham, Middlesex, prompting anger from some other contestants and leading to calls for the rules to change to prohibit anyone outside the county entering.

Paula, who has run the event for two years, said: “This decision was made the day after the Miss Hampshire final on March 15 and days before all this attention on where Charlotte is from. It was a split decision 3-2 by the judges between Charlotte and Larissa and in these cases the runner-up often gets a place in the semi-finals.

“I had a conversation with the director of Miss England the day after the final and I said Larissa had been amazing and was a really great girl and with a vote that close she should get into the semis. What was said about Charlotte had no bearing on this decision.”

She added: “I’m so pleased Southampton can be represented in the semi-finals and I’m very pleased for Larissa. She is a gorgeous girl but the semi-finals are always difficult so I wish her all the best.”
