THE weight of England’s biggest county authority has been thrown behind delivering a key part of a multi-million pound plans for a new business hub.

Hampshire County Council has announced it will be leading the development of a spine road to a new “innovation centre” at Daedalus airfield – now a designated Enterprise Zone. It is hoped better access will help the overall bid to spark a wave of advanced manufacturing, with a focus on the engineering, aerospace, aviation and marine industries.

If approved, it will provide new office space and workshop facilities geared up for those specific sectors.

The proposed development is part of large-scale investment at Daedalus, which includes improvements to the runway and new hangar space.
