TWELVE artists interested in all aspects of the natural world are mounting a major exhibition at Exbury Gardens, near Beaulieu.

The Four Seasons art group, headed by writer and painter Marianna Kneller, a founder member of the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA), will show paintings, prints and drawings.

Marianna, resident artist at Exbury from 1980-2004, is known for her studies of the Rothschild collection of rhododendrons and has written a book on the subject.

“I’m delighted to say the Four Seasons group has brought together another exhibition that is both exciting and wide-ranging,” she said.

“We all enjoy coming to Exbury – it gives us great inspiration for our work and many of the paintings will depict scenes from the gardens.”

Fellow artist Joan Osborne is looking forward to visiting Exbury’s new Gilbury Lane garden, where 200 varieties of camellias are providing a wonderful spring display.

“They are amongst my favourite flowers” said Joan. “Many of my paintings depict camellias and I’m sure I will find some subjects new to Exbury this year.”

Many of the artists will be giving demonstrations at the exhibition.
