Former Friends of the Earth director is new president of Hampshire conservation group

ENVIRONMENTALIST Jonathan Porritt is the new president of the Conservation Volunteers.

The volunteer organisation runs various events in Hampshire and focuses on reclaiming green areas for the community to use in a more sustainable way. Jonathan, a former director of Friends of the Earth and chairman of the forerunner of the Green Party, is the co-founder of Forum for the Future which is a sustainable development charity.

Jonathan will be replacing Lord Norrie, who is retiring after more than 15 years at Conservation Volunteers.
