HAMPSHIRE welcomed famous faces who had travelled in time all the way from the 1980s in the form of former cast and crew members of Doctor Who.

The sixth incarnation of the Doctor, Colin Baker, joined with former technicians and other crew members at an event to raise money for Starlight – a charity which provides entertainment to terminally ill children.

The event at Roer Park Leisure Centre in Winchester featured a raffle was held for people to win an original mini Tardis, a mini Dalek and numerous figurines and Doctor Who memorabilia.

There were numerous stands showcasing a whole host of props, toys and collectibles from the hit series, which has been running since the 1960s, as well as life-size costumes of the aliens the Doctor encountered and about half a dozen full-size Daleks.

However Doctor Who was not the only show to feature on the day.

A DeLorean, known from the classic film Back to the Future, was on show for admirers of the film to sit in it and be photographed.

Organiser Chris Tarrant said: “We’re hoping to raise as much money as we can. We’ve been doing this for ten years and every year I’m reminded of how much work is involved – I’ve got numerous bruises from putting so many leaflets through people’s letter boxes – but it’s all worth it.”

Colin Baker said: “It’s lovely to meet all the fans of the Doctor and all these people have turned up to support a good charity. It’s also a chance for me to meet friends from the show.”

Where's Roer Park Leisure Centre? I know where River Park Leisure Centre is. It's where this event was held on Saturday. The reporter is very pretty though.

The event had a few other actors from recent Dr Who, as well as from the 80s. The recent performers had played Weeping Angels and Cybermen in the new series, whereas the classic performers also included the 1980s Davros (Terry Molloy). It's nice to see fans old and new enjoying the many props, cars, costumes and actors from the series, especially during school holidays, and raising money for charity. Nice one guys.
