A POPULAR Southampton restaurant could be knocked down to be replaced with flats.
The Supper Rooms, pictured, in Swaythling, closed in 2010 after a 35-year history as an eaterie.
Since then the building in High Road has been empty and now a developer is set to find out whether its plans for flats at the site will go ahead.
Lainstone Colleys LLP had applied to put up a two-storey building at the site, which would contain 17 self-contained flats.
Three residents and Swaythling ward councillor Maureen Turner have all objected to the plans.
They say the proposed flats are cramped and the proposals would represent an overdevelopment of the site.
But city council officers have recommended that councillors approve the plans at the next meeting of the licensing committee tomorrow.
