Police have launched a hunt to find a missing man.

They say Michael Hawkewell, from Newport, on the Isle of Wight, was last seen last Friday.

The 50-year-old was spotted at 1.40pm at the Co -Op stores, Terminus Road, Cowes.

He is described as:

  • White
  • Slim Build
  • Short, brown, balding hair
  • 5ft 7ins

He was last seen wearing:

  • A denim jacket
  • Jeans
  • A dark-coloured T-shirt
  • Black Trainers

Inspector Andrew McDonald of the Newport Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Mr Hawkewell’s welfare and want to hear from anyone who has seen him or knows where he might be.

“We would also appeal directly to Mr Hawkewell to contact us to let us know he is safe and well.”

Anyone with information about Michael Hawkewell should contact Newport police station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
