Free parking extended due to high demand

Daily Echo: Free parking extended due to high demand Free parking extended due to high demand

A SCHEME giving residents and visitors to a Hampshire town free on-road parking has been extended.

A parking scheme for Eastleigh town centre will now run until the end of May.

This means drivers can use free on-road pay and display parking in the High Street and Market Street between 3pm and 6pm, Monday to Friday.

The scheme was developed by the council and Eastleigh Town Centre Partnership to help boost trade and encourage visitors to the town over Christmas.

Visitors can use 40 parking bays over the two roads for one hour’s free parking, saving them £1.30 by pressing for a free ticket.

Parking on these roads has proved to be very popular.

This is not rocket science and is exactly what traders and shoppers told EVBC when they first introduced the parking charges.
If people need to pay to park they will go to places where it is either free or cheaper. And or those numpties that park in parking bays meant for disabled drivers - the parking regulations continue until 8pm and not finish at 6pm like the other parking regulations.
