BOSSES at a disabilities charity under threat of closure are within sight of securing their rescue package.

Last night managers at the Rainbow Centre made a final fundraising plea after announcing that they are within £9,000 of their £150,000 target.

Previously the Daily Echo had revealed how the Fareham-based centre had four weeks to raise funds or close its doors.

The charity, which transforms the lives of disabled people across the south, has so far raised £141,000 in its crisis plea.

Now it is making a final push by hosting an open day highlighting its cause and thanking those who have rallied to its aid. It takes place from noon-4pm on Saturday, June 21, after the group’s annual meeting.

Centre director Lara Bull said: “We’re so grateful to all those who have supported our appeal.

“The team, the children, families and our adults and carers will all see the benefit of everyone’s support.

“We’re organising our open day to showcase our centre’s services. We’d like to ensure that we can say thank you to everyone who has helped us and introduce our team.”
