STAFF at a Hampshire pub put in a heroic effort to raise money for charity.

The Big Cheese pub in West End Road, Bitterne, held a funfilled fundraising weekend in aid of Help for Heroes.

Families enjoyed a barbecue and children took part in a variety of activities, including a bouncy castle and an assault course made out of tyres.

There was also a charity car wash and a pub quiz.

The pub’s efforts helped raise around £1,000 for the charity, and another event is planned for the forthcoming bank holiday weekend, which includes entertainment from a UB40 tribute band.

Agata Brejnak, general manager of the Big Cheese, West End Road, Bitterne, said: “We raised £1,000 which is phenomenal.

“We hope to raise the same amount when we hold the next fundraiser over the bank holiday weekend.”
