PEOPLE will be able to tour a wartime airfield and museum next week.

Bosses at the Museum of Army Flying are throwing the Middle Wallop military base open to the public as part of Culture 24’s Museums at Night Festival.

The event, Meet the Pilots: Airfield Aircraft Archives is at 7pm on Thursday, May 15.

It will include exclusive access to the airfield with a personal tour of the Historic Aircraft Flight that is based at Middle Wallop, exclusive guided tours around the museum by pilots who flew aircraft and access to historic archives and film footage.

There will also be a presentation by Lieutenant Colonel David Amlot on the use of the Apache attack helicopter (pictured) during the Jugroom Fort Rescue Mission in Afghanistan’s Helmand province in January 2007.

Tickets for the event cost £7.50 and are available online or by calling 01264 784421.
