A DEFECTIVE red car light led to two young men being jailed after police found them with hard drugs destined for the streets of Southampton.

Officers became suspicious when they stopped the vehicle and discovered front seat passenger Ryan Gerald was wearing two pairs of trousers. They found 23 deal bags of heroin and crack cocaine between the two layers.

Prosecutor Tom Wright told Southampton Crown Court the driver Dominic Green had two bags with similar drugs secreted in his body. Green, 20, formerly of Somers Way, Eastleigh, but now living in Hackney, and Gerald, 21, from Enfield, admitted possession with intent to supply.

The former was jailed for 28 months and the latter for 24 months. Passing sentence Recorder Nigel Lickley QC said both had travelled from London for street dealing in Southampton to pay off cannabis debts.

He said: β€œIt was organised and planned, you were doing it for gain and you were caught red handed.”
