A CONCERT has raised more than £1,000 for a charity that provides free sailing trips for the disabled.
Every year the Hythe-based boat Alison MacGregor, named after a victim of the Clapham rail disaster, enables more than 3,000 people to take two-hour pleasure cruises along the Solent.
The Brass for the Ali Mac concert was organised by Hythe Marina Residents’ Association.
Berkshire Brass and the Marchwood Military Wives Choir took part in the event, which was held at the community hall in West Street, Hythe.
The concert raised £1,041 for Solent Dolphin, the charity that operates the vessel.
Nigel Bassett, president of Solent Dolphin, received the cheque from Philip Gilbert, one of the concert organisers.
Solent Dolphin’s chairman, John Bloomfield, and the secretary, Charlie Fay, were also there.
