CAMPAIGNERS will today take their fight to save their bank to those who plan to shut it.
As reported by the Daily Echo, residents and businesses launched a bid to save the NatWest branch in Fair Oak last month, which they say is vital as the last bank in the village.
They have collected 1,100 signatures for their petition and will be handing this to senior NatWest executives ahead of a meeting in Southampton to discuss the issue this afternoon at Southampton's High Street branch.
They will be joined by Eastleigh MP Mike Thornton.
The Save Fair Oak NatWest group argue the bank is well used with customers often queuing out the door, despite bank bosses' claim that the branch, in Botley Road, has seen a significant decline.
They say a growing elderly population will not be able to do internet banking and businesses need to pay in takings and otherwise face travelling to Eastleigh with large sums of cash.
The branch is to close on July 9.
