Banking giant Barclays have announced that they will be closing one of their Southampton branches.
Barclays Bank in Portswood Road is set to close on July 25, customers received a letter stating the decision was part of a review which stated that the bank was not being used as much as it was previously.
It comes after Barclays announced earlier this month that they will be cutting 19,000 jobs nationwide over three years as part of a radical overhaul of its business.
A spokesman for Barclays said the move should not see job losses, as staff will be given the opportunity to work at an alternative branch in the city.
He added that customers will not need to take any action as account details, sort codes, account numbers and direct debits will remain the same – and they are being asked to use the branch in Above Bar.
