POLICE have arrested two people in connection with an investigation into a robbery in which a man was threatened with having boiling water poured over him.

Detectives have confirmed that a man and a woman were arrested this morning by officers in Bournemouth in connection with the inquiry.

As previously reported by the Daily Echo a 44-year-old answered a knock at his door where he was confronted by five men and a woman who forced their way inside, hitting him with an item concealed in a plastic bag.

Once inside, one of the men boiled a kettle and threatened to pour the boiling water over the man and his friends who were also inside the house in Canterbury Avenue, in the Sholing area of Southampon.

After searching the house the group forced the man to open a safe before stealing more than £1,000 in cash, two passports, an engagement ring and a Vivian Westwood Watch, before making their escape in a small blue hatchback.

Police are still appealing for any information and are asked to contact Detective Sergeant Will Whale at Bitterne CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
