IT was a typically British weekend of wellies, raincoats, suncream and shades as thousands of people ensured the weather didn’t dampen spirits at a popular three-day music festival.

More than 100 live acts took to the stage for this year’s Pulse Festival, including headliners Fun Lovin’ Criminals, famous for hits including Scooby Snacks and Loco.

Daily Echo:

The festival at Sunnyfields Farm, Totton, was originally planned as a one-off fundraiser in 2010 for the Ocean Ward – Southampton General Hospital’s children’s heart unit – but since then it has got bigger and has once again raised thousands for the charity.

Among the festivalgoers was bride-to-be Amber Jackson, who held her hen party at the event with a group of 15 friends.

The manager of Specsavers in Bitterne will be getting married to her partner of eight years in July.

The 26-year-old, from Hythe, said: “I’m having my hen do here because Pulse Festival is amazing. We all came here two years ago and we loved it, so this weekend is a perfect alternative to a normal hen do.”

Tim Joy, 52, from Hythe, has been going to the festival every year.

He said: “We shop at the farm and we get deliveries from them, and as soon as they said they wanted to do a festival we said that would be a great idea. We were very impressed with the way the first one went and we have been enthusiastic since. Because it’s not familiar bands it’s an opportunity to see someone you haven’t heard of.”

Michelle Sutcliffe went to Pulse festival for the first time.
The 36-year-old dietician from Church Road, Woolston, said: “It seemed like a really nice little festival we wanted to support.”
