TWO teenagers examining an old wreck were rescued by lifeboat after being cut off by the incoming tide.
The 16-year-olds had put planks across the mud in the River Medina to reach the remains of a vessel on the west bank.
They were still exploring the wreck when they realised their route back to dry land was under water.
A Cowes lifeboat spokesman said: “A passer-by raised the alarm and we landed the youths at a pontoon on the east bank. There were met by mobile coastguards from Newport, who took them back to their Island homes.”
