POLICE are concerned for a man who has gone missing after he failed to turn up for work.

Ashley Bessant, from Dibden Purlieu has not been seen since 8am yesterday morning.

However, police have revealed there has been a possible sighting in Devon.

The 28-year-old Saints fan, who lives with his parents, has not been seen since he left for work yesterday morning and police say they are concerned for his welfare.

The welder, who works locally, never arrived for work and his anxious family have joined in the search for him.

Police say information suggests that the Saints season ticket holder may be in the Dorset and Weymouth areas and Dorset Police are helping with efforts to locate Ashley.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to get in contact.

They have been conducting enquiries and officers in Dorset had been conducting a physical search, which police said was standard procedure in a missing person enquiry.

Ashley's brother and father joined in the physical search in Dorset.

But the search focus has now moved to the Devon and Cornwall area.

Ashley is described as white, of medium to slim build, 5ft 11in tall with brown eyes and dark brown cropped hair.

The last time he was seen he was wearing black tracksuit bottoms with a white trim and a red Austrian football shirt with a zip up grey top.

Sgt Chris Taylor, the Patrol Sgt at Hythe Police Station, said: “We're concerned for Ashley's welfare.

“This is out of character and his family are also very worried.

“He's done nothing wrong and just needs to contact Hampshire or Dorset Police on 101 and let us know he is okay.”

Anyone with information can call Sgt Taylor on 101.
