A MAN suffered a serious head injury after an assault outside a Hampshire pub.

The 33-year-old man was assaulted outside the White Horse pub in Marchwood last night.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital with a serious injury following the assault, which happened at just after 10.30pm.

His condition is described as stable and he remains in hospital.

The injury is not believed to be life threatening.

A 40-year-old man from Marchwood was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

He has been bailed until July 15 pending further enquiries.
