Speeding drivers fined at least £8 million for speeding

Daily Echo: The 84,000 drivers done for speeding The 84,000 drivers done for speeding

84,000 drivers have been caught speeding in just one year across Hampshire, the Daily Echo can reveal.

And between them they have paid a minimum of £8m in fines.

It comes just days after we told how one motorist was snared speeding at more than 120mph on one of the county’s main roads.

The answer is simple, the law is clear. Don't speed - don't face a fine.

Those who look online or in articles so as to avoid the cameras are complicit in the offence, or too stupid to realise the above.

When the location of every single speed measuring device, fixed or mobile is available in the form of a windscreen mounted accessory, there really is no excuse to be caught when you are speeding.

When you have cruise control, or a brake pedal either.

My earlier comment:

£8 million really is a speck of dust compared to the cost to the taxpayer caused by bad driving. The Department for Transport record that over 200,000 collisions happen a year. This is at some considerable cost of £15 billion.

Ambulances, Police investigations, court proceedings all need to be pair for. Over 2000 people a year are killed on our roads:

Speed camera are cash cows. They have to be within 1.5km of a black spot. Can think of several in Southampton where the cameras are in a good position to catch people and yet there is ample time for traffic to speed up approaching the "black spot", so the camera does no good.. As somebody says - how about putting them where they are needed rather than where they just make money. Can think of some very unlikely locations for cameras where speeding is NOT safe and where I repeatedly get overtaken by speeders giving toots, v signs or generally screaming out the window. Cop? Speed cameras? No way, after all they probably haven't got enough official money to pay the fine and are still banned from the last offence!

And in the associated article the scamera van's are not the Hampshire one's, probably because The Echo staff didn't have any photo's where the SCAMERA sign on the hatch or the POLICE marking above the two hatches was clearly visible.
Most times I see them parked and in operation both hatches are opened fully against the POLICE marking to hide it and the hatch mounted SCAMERA signs, is that because they have targets to meet? Or a 'productivity' bonus? Still at least it's a large van, the solo motorcycle unit regularly hides away in some pretty strange places!

Those of you who have told your insurance companies as you have to are paying more. There are even so who ;have made several contributions, wonderful people. I myself once made a small contribution for a transgression of the limit, but only once. I learned my lesson and with more than 40 years motoring that's not bad. Considering there is a generous allowance before any fines kick in. So happy motoring and keep contributing, bless you all. So if you don't want to pay the fine don't speed.. Did you know the only people that moan about it are those who get caught. What we need is unmarked camera vans and more unmarked Police cars. Happy Motoring

3) The rise of nationalism within Europe that is challenging the power structure of the European Union – the recent victories of the populist United Kingdom Independence Party, which opposes the European Union, is particularly concerning to the Bilderberg Group because the EU, and its Euro currency, were formulated by the group at its second annual meeting in 1950.

Where real policy is being made and its not in any country governments or any union government like the EU, they just rubber stamp the policy and enforce it on us.

Tell me why is gone quiet on the Recession that we are in and that Gold prices have been falling since 2011 or the 5 thousand jobs that have been lost in the last quarter and only a few hundred jobs created.
Yes, I can clearly see why that comment is relevant to a story about speeding *shrug*
Like I said you can't do any thing about it how long as speeding fines been about, and it will carry on as long people will speed over the limit, if you what to do some thing about it then you got to get involved and most that post on here do not.
Storys like this are meant as a distraction to forget the real issues that are effecting us all, and it works for many people.
So what you're saying then, is that you are going to use any story you want as a platform for your inane ramblings, on the grounds that they're just distractions from what you see as the real issues?

Good grief.

"No-one gets involved so there will be no change", the same as virtually no-one votes for 'the Tusc' so they always come last, and that never changes? A good analogy that you can learn from.
