SOUTHAMPTON is one of the messiest cities in the UK, research has revealed.
Eco cleaning brand Method carried out the research, which dubbed Southampton the sixth messiest city in the whole of the country.
Out of the 2,000 people surveyed, 91 per cent of people living in Southampton admitted to living in a messy home – and 64 per cent said they would happily eat food off the floor.
Reasons for skipping the cleaning chores included having a lack of motivation, time and enjoyment.
Method discovered a number of bad cleaning habits by Southampton residents like reusing a lunch plate for dinner without cleaning it, wiping lipstick off a glass for guests, and buying paper plates to avoid washing up.
Other cities shamed for their messy residents were Chelmsford, London, Bristol, Cambridge and Sheffield.
