HOME Alone star Macaulay Culkin will now not be appearing onstage in Southampton, after his band cancelled a gig in the city.

His pizza-themed Velvet Underground tribute act, The Pizza Underground, were due to The Joiners on Thursday.

The 33-year-old became a Hollywood child star when he appeared in Home Alone aged just ten, but slipped out of the limelight after the turn of the century.

His new act, below, had been formed with New York-based musicians in 2012, and had been due to make four appearances in the UK over the next two weeks.

But those dates have now been scrapped.

On social media website Twitter, the band posted a message saying: "Sad that we had to cancel UK shows.

“Believe it or not we had fun! But all good things must end, and sometimes suddenly and w/o explanation."

The band had been pelted with beer at a gig in Nottingham last week, before abandoning their set, while they were booed in Manchester days before.

But on Twitter they said the cancellation of the remaining gigs was “nothing to do with the beer tossers”, instead saying they had to “deal with a cheesemergency”.
