A FREE music and arts festival set to take place in Southampton next month has been cancelled.
The organisers of EjectorSeat have decided to pull the plug on the June 14 event after failing in a bid for funding from the Arts Council.
The annual event in Palmerston Park features a line-up of local musical, artistic and poetic talents.
Acts set to perform at this year's event were Spiraltones, The Rabsons, The Paper Trains and the Southampton Ukelele Jam.
There was also going to be a spoken word tent and gallery, as well as a host of children's activities.
But announcing the bad news, festival coordinator Mac Ince said: “Sadly we have to cancel this year's festival due to us being unsuccessful with a major funding application.
“Despite the various income sources that we've developed with food vendors, contractors, in-kind donations and sponsors the costs of the festival are too high for us to put it on without the help of funding.
“It has been great to hear from many of you about the value you place on the festival, and how much it means to the local community, and we look forward with a positive light and hope that we are able to deliver another great festival for next year.”
