Just love those Echo archive pictures, completely out of date but nice to see. As for the trespassers, quite a common practice for people to take short cuts in the Northam to Southampton Tunnel area, mostly goes unnoticed. They are of course putting their lives at risk as well as inconveniencing all concerned, but I doubt if they give a 'monkeys' about anyone else.

I bet if the person goes to court they'll get a slap on the wrist, they may get a fine. What a waste of time. They should be fined and sent them to prison

Trains were delayed and used different platforms last night after 5pm, but there was no explanation by the staff. However I did specualte to my fellow passengers that someone was probably threateniong suicide some where on the line. Hari kari seems an unusual choice of method; most railway suicides either jump off a bridge or just stand on the line in front of a train.

Maybe not ACTUAL Hari-Kari (properly named as Seppuku) but suicide nonetheless and an idiot nonetheless also.
