A HAMPSHIRE charity has joined a new campaign aimed at getting a better deal for children with cerebral palsy in Hampshire.

The Rainbow Centre in Fareham has joined forces with charities from across the UK to launch Action Cerebral Palsy.

One of the main goals of the initiative will be calling for more consistent access to high-quality services, and allow for the earliest-possible identification of the condition.

Centre director Lara Bull said: “Every day we see the amazing progress that children with cerebral palsy can make given the right support.

“But we are fully aware that only a small proportion of the 1,800 children born with cerebral palsy every year receive the early and intensive intervention that can transform their lives.

“By joining forces, we aim to get a better deal for all children in the UK with cerebral palsy, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to benefit from this care.”

The Rainbow Centre’s future had looked under threat recently, until an appeal resulted in the charity reaching its £150,000 target within weeks.
