WINCHESTER was awash with the colour pink today as thousands of women put their best foot forward to beat cancer.

Women and children of all ages descended on the Garrison Ground to take part in the Race for Life fundraising event in support of Cancer Research UK.

Participants wore pink to show their support while others competed in the event in fancy dress.

Daily Echo:

More than 1,000 women and children from across Hampshire beamed throughout the event as they either jogged or walked the five-kilometre route to raise money for the national charity.

Crowds cheered and clapped as those who took part navigated the course.

The event was treated to glorious sunshine and warm temperatures - a far cry compared to the wet and muddy conditions during yesterday's Pretty Muddy fundraiser, also organised by Cancer Research UK.

Daily Echo:

The first runner to cross the finish line today completed the course in 19 minutes, 21 seconds.
