A SOUTHAMPTON woman who was accused of being a neighbour from hell has been booted out.

It comes after the Daily Echo reported how a mum-of-one was forced to flee her home in Woolston for the safety of her young son.

Residents living in Hazeleigh Avenue told how they were kept awake in the early hours by latenight parties and endless noise coming from the property.

One visitor to the home was even pictured, below, by neighbours defecating in the back garden.

Daily Echo:

Pilates teacher Marie-Claire Prettyman, 34, said she and her eight-year-old son were driven to despair by the neighbour and the visitors that came to her home.

It got so bad that at points she was verbally abused and she made the decision to move away from her home for safety reasons.

Now she has moved back to her home, she said: “I feel like I can now get on with my life, it is a relief to be in my home and know that nothing untoward is going to happen.

“The landlord has been brilliant and we had to come together as a community to deal with the situation.

“People say that community is dead, but this show’s that is not true.”

Hampshire police said they received five reports of antisocial behaviour, including noise complaints and domestic incidents, at the address since March 31.

A spokesman said a 32-year-old woman was arrested in connection with one of these, but she was released without charge.

  • Resident Moira has been evicted

The landlord of the home confirmed that the tenant, who only gave her name as “Moira”, is now out of the property.

He said: “We are very glad she has gone, especially as it will now make the area more peaceful.

“We thought at one stage that she was not going to go, but she was okay about leaving and it was good to see her leave.”
